Passion Fruits

Guide to Exotic fruit - 2

PASSION FRUIT – Also known as a purple Granadilla, This tropical, egg shaped fruit is much like a Pomegranate. Granadilla means “little Pomegranate” in Spanish. Although the seeds are edible, the flesh is usually strained, and used as a flavoring. Although they are native to Brazil, they are now grown in Hawaii, California, and Florida. Choose large, heavy fruit with a slightly wrinkled skin. It is a great source of Vitamin C, and A, and high in potassium and iron. The seeds are a good source of fiber.
